40th Internacia Esperanto Feriado en Kudowa Zdroj. 16-26 August 2006

Kudowa is in the Sudety Mountains very close to the Czech border in South West Poland.
Reasonably easy to reach by daily flights from Stanstead to Wroclaw and then a two hour bus journey. If you book in advance the Wroclaw E. Club will be pleased to arrange for someone to meet you at the airport and put you on the bus to Kudowa, perhaps even travel there with you. I travelled a lot in younger days to film festivals in many countries looking for films which would provoke discussion among teenagers. One of these festivals took place in Poland and about 35 years ago I came in touch with Esperanto. Previously I had always been a failure at learning a foreign language. French, German and then Russian were all tried and no progress made. But with Esperanto it was quite different and within 4 months I was able to converse, slowly it's true, but I could understand and be understood. From then on I made contact with Esperanto clubs throughout Europe and even as far East as Siberia. I still find it facinating to travel to strange places and meet strangers who immediately became friends. With the advent of email it is so easy (and cheap) to keep in touch.
